Star Wars Ep 7 In 2015

Today, this was announced,

The Walt Disney Company announced today it has agreed to acquire Lucasfilm and is planning Star Wars Episode 7 for 2015!

How does a 34 year old Star Wars fan really feel about this?

1. I'm as happy as a Wookie who's friend was just released from carbonite
2. I'm as happy as a 900 year old Jedi living in a swamp who found a flashlight
3. I'm as happy as an emperor for which everything is proceeding as he has have foreseen
4. I'm as happy as C-3PO, never mind he's never happy
5. I'm as happy as a Gungan who's-ah not gonna die
6. I'm as happy as a Hutt who has a full bowl of frog-like things to eat
7. I'm as happy as a brother and sister who are ignoring that awkward kiss they shared
8. I'm as happy as a nerf herder bringing in the herd
9. I'm as happy as a snow beast with both arms

and finally,

10. I am as happy as a Storm Trooper who found the droids they were looking for

The Other "Camp Blood"

It's Halloween and I find it disturbing that there is a lack of good horror movies for fans to enjoy on TV.
Aside from AMC no other network is having a showcase of gory-cinema. So I am going to make a suggestion. If you want to see a great horror film that is a bit original with tons of great kills and an odd ending go find a copy of Sleepaway Camp.

It's easy enough to think of Sleepaway Camp as just another Friday The 13th knock off but I challenge that. This film too uses camp grounds as a killing field but unlike the original Friday The 13th there are actual campers in this film. The film is also a weird take on puberty and the shit most teens go through when trying to fit in. The cast stars children of various ages who unfortunately are sent away for the summer to enjoy the activist at Camp Arawak. It's not too soon into the summer that the body count starts to pile up.

Who the film's monster is and why the blood is spilled will shock you, well it will definitely confuse you.

Check it out.

My two cents

"Heroes, there is no such thing."

I love super hero films. I love them for several reasons.

One reason is seeing the characters from the books brought to life, made flesh and blood. The other reason is that super hero films are the popcorn films. Super hero films are exactly what Hollywood wants to give people. If I am not making myself clear, here is what I mean.

With a super hero film Hollywood has to do the following; the film has to have a big budget, it has to appeal to a large number of people, you have to have a great looking cast, you have to fill every moment of screen time with action and drama. To make your super hero film work, you have to hire the best of the best, the best director, best writer(s), best pre and post production teams.

Super hero films need to be top shelf, you go any lower and your audience will burn you for it.

Need an example, just look at the trailer for Iron Man 3.

Top shelf baby.

Superman 13

This week writer Scott Lobdell takes over the Superman title with issue 13. If you don't count issue 0 that is. This is the first time I have had a strong interest in the Superman series since the New 52 relaunch.

No offense to the previous writers but nothing in their past got me excited about them handling The Last Son of Krypton.

To many people Mr. Lobdell is the man who killed Colossus (Uncanny X-Men 390) but to me, and what made me a fan, is that he's the man who had the Gladiator punch the USS Enterprise, (Star Trek / X-Men one shot).

I am sorry but that is the damn coolest thing I have ever read. So how can anyone not be interested in seeing what he'll do with comics first and most powerful super hero?

Superman issue 13 hits the shelves this Wednesday.

Returns

For many years, off and on, I blogged. My blog(s) were a nerdy nerdy place. I stopped for a year or two because I worked on a website and also a (mostly) weekly podcast.

But like many things it's time passed. So I have returned.

What will I blog about?

nerdy nerdy things.
